Ms. Johncox has more than 10 years experience providing strategic management and marketing in the areas of research administration, technology transfer and business development. She has a well-established track record of successfully evaluating research-based, academic technologies for commercialization and business development and joined WSU in June 2003. She was previously Vice President, Indiana University-Advanced Research and Technology Institute, and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Intellectual Property Management at the University of Houston and she managed technology transfer and university/industry relations at both universities. At the University of Houston she developed and directed the UH-NASA Technology Commercialization Incubator funded by NASA. She also consults with Japanese organizations on conflict of interest and technology transfer issues; in 2000 she completed a “Best Practices” document for the Japanese government regarding the development of their new Technology Licensing Organizations. Ms. Johncox holds an M.A. degree in Organizational Communication from Western Michigan University and a B.A. degree from Eastern Michigan University.
